Top plastic piece that holds glass globe down is broken in 3 places and has been taped, you may be able to put a hot iron to it and weld the cracks back together. 

Also this can be wound backwards without putting money in.  I think clockwise you need a coin. Have not tried with a coin or with gumballs in it. I think it is also missing two bolts or screws that hold down the mechanism.

Some people use these to also display things however use at your own risk!
