Regular washers added to raise up the (dented or missing plug) bottom so it will spin at the equator (The support plus was missing, you may be able to find a thick cord wall plug that will look and fit better.).
However this unit does rub as it spins if your not careful to keep the globe vertical otherwise it will hit the edge of the base frame opening as some tilt exists even when the globe is placed in the groove, maybe some brackets in the wood could fix this if you can find the right size.
