Pickup Only.

You see this navy rum jug? It’s quietly judging your beverage choices from its majestic 11.5-inch height. With a robust brown/cream glaze and the mysterious stamped “N,” it might also be moonlighting as Nicolas Cage’s secret whiskey vault. A classy guardian of liquids or a rustic décor piece, you decide!

Bottom is not glazed. It may appear cracked, but I believe it is just where it was "sliced" off the wheel.

• Theme: Traditional stoneware
• Item Type: Antique Stoneware Jug / Crock w/ No Handle
• Brand: Stamped with a capital "N" on the lower edge.
• Material: Stoneware, dual-tone glaze
• Size: 11.5 inches tall , 6.5" Wide, 1 3/4" Spout. (Probably 1 Gallon?)
• Weight: Approx. 7.4 lbs.
• Features: Hand-stamped “N,” Maybe an employee mark or a mold mark? The stamp is uneven leading me to believe it was hand stamped, so older; however the glaze is in great shape making me think it is newer.
• Country of Manufacture: Likely USA
• Spout molded collar opening has a lip that twine, wire or leather strap could hold down the cork during transport on rough wagon roads or ships.
• Style of a Navy Rum Jug. Probably a General Store Merchant Two-Tone Whiskey Moonshine

Good. Glaze and other imperfections inherent to the crafting process. I do not see any chips or cracks.

Brand Unknow: Similar Brands: Western, Robinson Ransbottom, Mccoy, Pearsons
Identification Breakdown
• The "N" Stamp: utilized uppercase letters (such as "N", "C", "W", etc.) stamped near the lower edge base or on the shoulder of their pottery. These letters typically served as individual potter's marks to track production pieces, or as part of batch-coding for standard liquid capacities (such as imperial pint and gallon measurements).
• Vessel Style: This distinctive shoulder profile, narrow cork-stopped mouth, and two-tone glaze—featuring an unglazed or cream bristol slip body paired with a rich brown dipped top—is a classic signature of British military and commercial liquid storage vessels from the late 1800s through World War II.
• Type: Stoneware, crock, or utility jug (often used for liquids like rum, ginger beer, or vinegar).
• Materials: Heavy-duty ceramic stoneware with a salt or alkaline glaze, typically featuring a two-tone finish (tan/beige body with a dipped brown top).
