(ONE TOKEN) Unsure of value, feel free to make an offer.
This humorous brass token is a cheeky nod to the past, offering "50¢ in Trade, Whisky, Tobacco, or One Screw." A quirky collectible with character.
These Tokens are from a generic souvenir line sold in gift shops during the 1960s and 70s. As far as I know they did not represent a real "The Gold Nugget" business in those towns at that time; instead, they were "fantasy" items created to give tourists a funny, "naughty" souvenir of the town's legendary gold-rush past. The Cooke City MT Token is much harder to find than the Cripple Creek CO Version.
What is interesting is there is now a "Gold Nugget" at Cripple Creek that didn't exist when these tokens were made. The name of course has deep roots in mining towns and Las Vegas, but I have not found that a bar or casino ever existed called "The Gold Nugget" in Cooke City Montana.
