Genuine Apple 603-8471 DVI to DVI Video Female to Male Adapter
Apple 603-8471 is an official, 5-inch long DVI-D Single Link Male-to-Female adapter cable
What It Is Used For
• This short extension cable is designed to help connect DVI monitor cables to older Power Mac or Mac Pro systems where the DVI ports are tightly spaced next to each other.

Why Would You Use This?
• Clearing Up Port Overcrowding: On specific vintage machines—primarily Power Mac G5 and early Mac Pro models (2005–2008)—certain video cards featured two DVI ports stacked tightly right next to each other. If you tried to use two standard monitor cables simultaneously, the plastic molding on the cable heads was often too bulky to fit side-by-side. This slim adapter offset one of the connections so you could actually run a dual-monitor setup.
• Port Strain Relief: Thick, heavy-duty DVI monitor cables are notoriously stiff and don't bend easily. This small adapter added 5 inches of highly flexible cord, absorbing the physical tension and preventing heavy monitor cords from warping or breaking the computer's internal graphics card ports.
• Tight Enclosures: Legacy machines like the G4 Cube had their video ports hidden underneath the bottom of the chassis, leaving almost zero clearance between the plug and the desk. A standard thick DVI cable would lift the computer off the table, whereas a flexible pig-tail adapter allowed the cord to drop and bend flush against the desk surface.
